Jeremy Rhoades was wanted in connection to a domestic disturbance that occurred in June of 2022 in Hamburg.  Rhoades allegedly fled the state and began taunting law enforcement on social media.  Rhoades was arrested by the Missouri Highway Patrol and extradited to Iowa to face charges.

Umbreit was initially arrested for multiple violations of No Contact Orders on 09/10/22.  After being released on bond, on 09/11/22, he appeared in court on 09/14/22 and urinated outside on the grounds of the Fremont County Courthouse.  He was released on $300 bond on 09/18/2022 at 14:30hrs and less than six hours later, arrested for Domestic Assault, Going Armed with Intent, Interference with 911 Communications, and Interference with Official Acts.

 September 4, 2022:
 

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope Reports On September 3, 2022 at 0105 hrs, Fremont County Deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Hwy 2 and 195th Street.  A 2016 Cadillac XTS, driven by Jay Tyler, age 54 of Medford, Oregon, failed to negotiate the lane changeover in the construction zone and stuck a cement barricade.

Tyler was uninjured.  The vehicle was a total loss.  A probable cause search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Tyler was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and No Valid License.  He was later placed under arrest for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Tyler was released after posting a $1,300 bond.

On September 3, 2022 at 2037 hrs, Fremont County Deputies were called to 2878 240th Street for a one-vehicle rollover accident involving a red Ford 150 pickup.  The driver Quentin Stanton, age 16 was uninjured in the accident.  Stanton was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Careless Driving.

 August 30, 2022:

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope Reports that on August 23, 2022 at approximately 2235hrs, Fremont County Deputies were called to the 200 block of Park Street, Hamburg, Iowa, for a report of a burglary in progress.  The caller advised the female suspect fled the residence and left her 8-year-old child at the scene.

Upon deputies’ arrival, the female, DANIELLE CASEY, age 37 of Sidney, Iowa, returned to the scene.  Deputies allege that CASEY entered three buildings previously left unoccupied due to natural disaster and attempted to steal items from the buildings.  Casey was also found to be in possession of both methamphetamine and marijuana.

Deputies allege that Casey had an 8-year-old child in her care during the commission of the crimes.

Casey was charged with:

  • Child Endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor
  • 2 counts Theft 1st Degree, a Class C Felony
  • 3 counts Burglary 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The child was released to a family member. 

The Iowa State Patrol, Fremont County K9 Unit, and Iowa Department of Human Services assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office with the call.  Casey is being held without bond awaiting initial appearance with the Fremont County Magistrate.

 August 20, 2022:

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope Reports that on August 20, 2022, at approximately 0002 hrs, deputies with the Fremont County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Chrysler near the intersection of Hwy 59 and 300th St, South of Shenandoah.

Deputies detected odor of controlled substances coming from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search, locating approximately 11.1 grams of a Methamphetamine and approximately 16 grams of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Jacqueline Riley, age 44 and the passenger, Richard Lindsay, age 60, both of Tarkio, Missouri were arrested for:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp

Both were taken to the Fremont County Jail on $7,000 bond.  Riley was released after posting bond, Lindsay is still in custody.  The Page County Sheriff's Office assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office with the call.

PRESS RELEASE

 

    Tabor, Iowa - The Tabor Iowa Police Department is reporting the arrest of Brian Robert Vanderpool   age 50 of Tabor, IA after a traffic stop in Tabor.  

 

    On August 14, 2022, at approximately 11:46 pm. the Tabor Police Chief Derek Aistrope observed a 
 Ford F150 with Brian Vanderpool driving. After a check of Vanderpool’s license status, it was determined
 that Vanderpool’s license was suspended. Vanderpool was then stopped and arrested for Driving While
 Suspended and transported to the Fremont County Jail. Vanderpool admitted that he also had
 methamphetamine on his person. Vanderpool was arrested for Possession of more than five grams of
 Methamphetamine, Failed to Affix a Tax Stamp and Driving While Suspended. Vanderpool is being held
 on One-Hundred- Thousand dollars bond ($100,000).

FREMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
PRESS RELEASE

     The Labor Day “Step Wave” is starting August 19, 2022, through September 5, 2022. This “Step Wave” is going to be focused on Impaired Drivers. So far in 2021 we have had four motor vehicle deaths in Fremont County. Three of the deaths were caused by impaired drivers.  

 

     So far this year in Fremont County there have been seventy-three total accidents involving one-hundred and three vehicles, with twenty-one injuries including five serious injuries.  

 

     We will be using STEP funds to pay for extra overtime during this Wave with the purpose of finding impaired drivers.

 

     Always remember to plan ahead if you will be celebrating with an impairing substance.  If you plan to indulge, plan for a sober driver to take you home.  Call someone to give you a ride if you feel impaired!  Is it your turn to be the designated driver?  Take the role seriously and do not partake in alcohol or any other drugs,

 July 23, 2022:

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports on July 22, 2022, at approximately 2235 hrs, Fremont County Deputies were called to the Fremont County campgrounds south of Sidney for a report of a male who had threatened to kill three campers.  Prior to law enforcement arrival, the male fled into a wooded area near the Fremont County Golf Course.  A search was conducted, and the male was not located.

On July 23, 2022, deputies were called to the Fremont County Golf Course for a report that the male had returned to the area.  The male, attempted to hide again in a wooded area, but was apprehended by Fremont County Deputies.

The male, Jeffrey Bloomfield, age 56, with no known address, was placed under arrest.  A search of his person uncovered property stolen from a residence in Sidney.

Bloomfield was placed under arrest, for Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft 5th Degree, Interference with Official Acts, and three counts of Harassment 1st Degree.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Mills County Sheriff’s Office, Mills County K9 Unit, Shenandoah K9 Unit, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and the Sidney Fire Department Drone Team, assisted with the case.

 July 22, 2022: 

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports on July 22, 2022, at approximately 0954 hrs, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle accident in the 1400 block of 370th Ave, east of Randolph.

A 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity, driven by Teresa Elliot, age 58 of Randolph was southbound on 370th Ave, when the vehicle drove onto the west ditch.  The driver overcorrected and left the roadway to the left, overturning and coming to rest on its wheels in a cornfield.

Elliot was flown by medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital with unknown injuries.  Seatbelts were in use and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Shenandoah Fire and Rescue assisted the Fremont County Sheriff's Office with the call.

 June 27, 2022:


 On 06/27/2022, at approximately 1404hrs, Fremont County Deputies were called to an address in Sidney for a report of a fight in progress.  Witness advised a male was on top of a female assaulting her outside of a residence.  Upon arrival, witnesses advised the pair had entered a residence.  Deputies could hear a disturbance inside the residence and made entry.  Deputies arrested Robert Reafling age 35 of Sidney, for Domestic Abuse 2nd Offense.  Reafling is being held at the Fremont County Jail pending initial appearance with a Magistrate.

On 06/27/2022 at approximately 1000hrs, deputies were called to the Tall Corn Motel near Shenandoah for a report of a burglary in progress.  Law Enforcement made contact with Hope Kalkas, age 31 of Shenandoah.  Kalkas was observed by witnesses removing itmes from a hotel room that did not belong to her.  Kalkas was arrested for Theft 5th Degree and Burglary 3rd Degree.  Kalkas is being held at the Fremont County Jail on $5,300 bond.

On 06/27/2022, at approximately 0415hrs, Deputies were called to a one-vehicle, roll over accident with a semi in the 1700 block of Hwy 275 north of Sidney.  Deputies made contact with the semi driver, Joseph Dale Linkenhoker, age 40 of Randolph.  Linkenhoker was southbound on Hwy 275 and failed to negotiate the curve and left the roadway to the left, and entered the ditch, causing his semi to overturn onto its side.  Linkenhoker was uninjured.  The semi was a total loss.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.

Deputies arrested Linkenhoker for OWI 1st Offense and is being held on $1000 bond.  Sidney Fire and Rescue assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office on the call.

On 06/23/2022 at approximately 1200hrs deputies were called to Riverton for a dispute.  Deputies arrested Edward Umbreit, age 64 of Riverton for Disorderly Conduct and Simple Assault.  Umbreit is being held at the Fremont County Jail on $1,500 cash bond.

 June 14, 2022:

 On June 14th, 2022 at approximately 12:38 p.m., Deputy Austin “Melvin” Richardson, age 37, was traveling northbound on Highway 275 near 260th Street.  A southbound combine being driven by James Groff, age 64, was traveling southbound in the same area.  The vehicle, being driven by Deputy Richardson, collided with the combine.  Deputy Richardson was killed as a result of the collision.  The accident remains under investigation.  We will provide updates as they become available.

 June 5, 2022:

 Sidney, Iowa - The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of Daphne Makayla Andrews age 22 of Carthage, MO after a traffic stop in the 24 Mile marker of Interstate 29.   

 

 On June 4, 2022, at approximately 1:22 am. a Fremont County Deputy observed a 2009 Nissan Maxima traveling at 98 mph northbound on I-29. When the deputy approached, he observed marijuana in plain view of the passenger. Andrews was arrested for possession of marijuana and released after posting one-thousand-dollar bond.

 May 26, 2022:

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope Reports that on 05/26/2022 at approximately 2353 hrs, Fremont County Deputies were called to the 5-mile marker southbound Interstate 29 to assist a motorist with disabled vehicle.

Upon arrival, deputies located a silver Chrysler 300, and observed indicators criminal activity.  The Mills County K9 Unit was called to assist and a K9 Judge alerted to controlled substances in the vehicle.  A search was conducted, and stolen property and narcotics were located.

 May 24, 2022:

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports that on 05/24/2022, Deputies arrested JORDAN CLEMENTS, age 18 of Red Oak, Iowa, in connection to a sexual assault that occurred in Fremont County on 05/22/2022.

Clements was arrested for Sex Abuse 3rd Degree and is being held at the Fremont County Jail on $10,000 cash only bond.  It is alleged that Clements forcefully sexually assaulted a juvenile in Fremont County.

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Red Oak Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

 May 18, 2022:

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope Reports:

On 05/16/2022 at approximately 0448hrs, deputies discovered a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of 330th Ave and Hwy 2, east of Sidney.

The driver, Jordan Nisely, age 24 of Farragut, Iowa, was initially arrested for Operating while Intoxicated 1st Offense and Driving Under Suspension.  During the course of the arrest, Nisley began fighting with deputies, resulting in a deputy receiving minor injuries.

Nisely was subsequently charged with Interference with Official Acts, causing bodily injury and Assault on a Peace Officer.

Nisley was given a $2,000 10% surety bond by the Fremont County Magistrate and bonded out of jail after posting $200.

The Mills County Sheriff's Office assisted Fremont County with the call.

 May 18, 2022:

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope Reports that on  May 18, 2022, at approximately 0134 hrs, deputies were called to a one-vehicle rollover near the intersection of Hwy 2 and 252nd Street, near Waubonsie State Park.

Deputies determined a 2018 Dodge Charger Hellcat, was being operated westbound Hwy 2, when the vehicle crossed the center line, left the roadway, and rolled.

The female driver, Devon Leigh Miller, age 31 of Coin, Iowa was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, Possession with Intent to Distribute (Meth), Possession with Intent to Distribute (Cocaine), Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Facility, and Carrying Weapons.

Miller is being held without bond at the Fremont County Jail.

The Iowa State Patrol and Sidney Fire and Rescue assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office with the call.

Fremont County Arrests 05/01/2022 through 05/10/2022

05/01/22 Chance Lucas, age 32 of Harlan, IA was arrested for Driving while Revoked and an active Harrison County, IA warrant.  Lucas was arrested during a traffic stop.

05/02/22, Lee Miles, age 45 of Tabor, IA was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance (Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, (Methamphetamine), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Miles was arrested during a traffic stop in Tabor.  Fremont County was assisted by the Mills County K9 Unit.

05/10/22, Kevin Wolford, age 66 of Tabor, IA, was arrested on an active warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance (Marijuana).  During the course of the arrest he was found again in Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.
