Helping Fremont County PREPARE, RESPOND, and RECOVER in disaster

OUR VISION

Fremont County Disaster Coalition works in cooperation with Fremont County Emergency Management, government entities, faith-based groups, community service organizations, and volunteers to secure equitable assistance for Fremont County residents who are experiencing disaster.

OUR PAST

Fremont County Long Term Disaster Recovery Group, now doing business as Fremont County Disaster Coalition, was originally formed in 2011. The group was re-established in 2019 to provide aid after the flood.  Since March, 2019 this organization has distributed nearly $240,000 in financial assistance, as well as a variety of other goods and services, to over 240 affected households in Fremont County.

OUR FUTURE

As we move out of recovery, Fremont County Disaster Coalition is transitioning into a group of volunteers focused on preparing for disasters so we are ready to respond efficiently and equitably in providing aid.

CERT

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live.

CERT trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills, such as:

Fire Safety

Light Search and Rescue

Team Organization

Disaster Medical Operations

The CERT program offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

CERT Basic training is scheduled for Monday, June 3, 6-9 PM; Tuesday, June 4, 6-9 PM; Thursday,
June 6, 6-9 PM
; Friday, June 7, 6-9 PM; and will conclude with a mock emergency drill on
Saturday, June 8, 10 AM to 4 PM

Registration is free.  Participants who attend all five sessions will become certified CERT volunteers and receive a backpack filled with emergency response gear, valued at over $100, thanks to funding from the Fremont County Community Foundation.  Registration is limited to 25 and is required by May 28.

Online registration is available at https://iastate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6PFin2WJQ00xACG,
